Alex Israel – Uncertainty Manipulated
I created this generative music by building elements of arbitrary length that work together melodically but do not correspond in time. As the individual components replay, they overlap coincidentally, resulting in music that makes itself. I made the art for this album in a similar fashion, selecting colors and entering a geometric formula as constraints, and allowing RStudio to fill in the blanks with a random seed to plot what you see here.

After a well-received inaugural release in 2023, Somnambulant Drift decided to widen the focus to spotlight artists we’ve respected over the last several years in its sophomore offering, Source Foray.
